The product line options default table houses information to define a particular option sequence to follow when evaluating a specific set of criteria. This is accomplished by creating a compatibility rule to define the criteria and the option sequence to follow when the criteria is met.
For example, suppose a product line supports three materials of construction: cast iron, carbon steel, and ductile iron. It also supports two liquid types: water and hydrocarbon but needs to evaluate the materials differently for each liquid:
For water, the Selector should first evaluate cast iron, then cast steel, and finally ductile iron.
For the hydrocarbon, the Selector should first evaluate ductile iron, then cast steel, and finally cast iron.
To meet this requirement, the product line options table is populated based on one of the liquids while the product line options default table is populated to control the other. See below to learn how to populate the table.
In the navigational tree open: the product line data folder, the product line folder to populate, the product line options folder, the category folder, the subcategory folder, and the defaults folder to populate (for this example the SC-Mtl is selected).
Right click on the Defaults folder and select New
A node will be inserted under the defaults folder.
Click on the empty node, the data manager pane will display the Product Line Options Default Table.
Enter the compatibility rule that needs to be evaluated to apply the option defaults. If the compatibility rule requires limits to be defined (temperature for example) enter the applicable values in the Min. and Max fields.
Enter the order sequence that the options should be evaluated if the criteria for the compatibility rule is met. (The Option ID's and Descriptions are not editable).

The navigational tree defaults node will populate with the first few letters of the compatibility rule.
Click to save the data.
