Weights and Down Thrust

This section contains weights and down thrust data associated with the selected pump.  The image below is an example of the Weights and Down Thrust section of the Vertical Pump Data twistie on the Additional Data tab of the Performance Datasheet page.

Fields:

• Weight, lineshaft

  Is the total weight of the lineshaft.

• Weight, bowl assembly rotating element

  Is the weight of the bowl assembly element.  

• Thrust factor

  Displays the thrust factor used for calculating total axial thrust.

• Thrust, hydraulic (rated / max)

  Displays the hydraulic thrust at max and rated trim.

• Thrust, bowl shaft end (rated / max)

  This is the thrust applied at the end of the bowl shaft.  

• Thrust, shaft step (rated / max)

  This is the thrust exerted as a result of the “step” between the bowl shaft and lineshaft connection.

• Thrust, stuffing box sleeve (rated / max)

  This is the thrust applied at the stuffing box sleeve.

• Thrust, total (rated / max)

  Displays the total thrust (rated, max) of the combination of the weight of lineshaft, weight of bowl assembly, hydraulic thrust, bowl end shaft thrust, shaft step thrust and sleeve box thrust.

• Thrust bearing capacity

  When applicable, displays the thrust capacity of the bearing.  If the actual thrust is greater then the thrust limit and all bearing upgrades have been exhausted, the near miss message of "Thrust bearing thrust limit exceeded" will be generated.
