Engineering data houses product line information specific to requirements determined by the knowledge engineering. Each table is designed to drive a specific set of information each offering flexibility in choosing options which determine the values in the Selector.
Some of these tables have a feature called Auto-upgrade. Auto-upgrade directs the Selector to change the selected product line option in a subcategory in order to help the selection meet a certain condition. Using the “Upgrade to?” column in the product line options tables, along with the “Auto-upgrade Sequence” settings in the Engineering Data tables, will help your users make the best selections in less time.
Important: The auto-upgrading of a subcategory should only be driven by ONE data table. A subcategory can be referenced by as many tables as needed, but only one table can have an auto-upgrade sequence number greater than zero for that subcategory. Special Design Codes can also be used to manage the compatibility of product line options. Click here to learn more.
